AUGUST 29, 2010

This week someone put a little book on my desk titled, Children's Letters to God. I found it quite interesting as well as profound.  In Matthew 19:14 Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs."

I think that Jesus was saying that we must have the heart of a child when it comes to understanding what God expects from us.  We are to accept our tasks willingly and not question too much why God does what He does.  It is in that spirit that I would like to share a few letters in the book.  They have a message for us as adults that we should take to heart.

Dear Mr. God,

How do you feel about people who don't believe in you?

Somebody else wants to know.

A friend,

Neil

Dear God,

Are you real?  Some people don't not believe it.  If you

are you better do something quick.

Harriet Ann

Dear God,

Your book has a lot of zip to it.  I like the science fiction

stories.  You had very good ideas and I would like to know

where you found them.

Your reader,

Jimmy

Dear God,

I am the only one in my class who is Chinese.    They all

say that you are American but, I am too, so you could be

Chinese right?

Your friend,

    Kim

And the final one sums up, I believe, how we should all look at God. . .  take time to look through the eyes of a child this week and you might learn a little more about God.  Have a blessed week.

Oh Lord,

Thank you for giving me my dad and mother and there

children, and dog and fish.  Thank you for giving us the

nice world to live in and eyes to see it and what we eat

and brains to think.  Thank you for ever-thing.

Love,

Maxine
